SPOILERS WILL BREAK YOUR HEART
(In case you don’t always read past the headline, my last newsletter update was for April Fool’s Day.)
The two-part season finale of The Bad Batch was a doozy and how. After a season that veered from homage to Saturday Morning cartoon vibes to Big Canon moments I wasn’t sure what to expect from the final two episodes, “The Summit” and “Plan 99,” but it certainly wasn’t a heart-rending cliffhanger. Shame on me. The season’s focus on endearing us to a particular character paid off profoundly, and, in retrospect, was set up plainly. This was The Bad Batch giving us its Empire Strikes Back - with family reveals, a major loss, and our heroes scattered to the four winds.
