In the run-up to the Ahsoka live action series, Star Wars social media is sharing a lot of framing around the idea of the Master & Apprentice relationship. The idea is that Ahsoka’s relationship with Sabine ties them both to a lineage that goes all the way back to Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Let’s set aside why Ahsoka was really assigned to Anakin by Yoda: in order to train Anakin himself. Let’s ask the more direct question: Was Anakin a success as a teacher or a failure? After all, Anakin fell to darkness and Ahsoka swore off the Jedi Order completely. That doesn’t seem as if Anakin Skywalker was very good at having a Padawan. On the other hand, Ahsoka became of the greatest heroes in Star Wars. How much responsibility can be traced back to being the Padawan of the Chosen One?
So, what do you think? Was Anakin a successful mentor? Or did he fail his Padawan, leading to her Rebellious, non-Jedi path?
A good mentor in general? Idk. A good mentor for Ahsoka specifically? Hell yes.
when they traced her training lineage, i wondered why they stopped at Qui-Gon. maybe there's some Dooku influence there too. :)
Anakin...was a good friend and mentor to Ahsoka. Palpatine's machinations split them up, which greatly contributed to his turn.
