Thank you for this thoughtful review. I have two lingering questions about the show.
The first might have been answered onscreen but I missed it: Why didn’t Mae simply tell Osha the truth on their first meeting? That the Jedi - or one specific Jedi - killed their mother?
The second is maybe just snark, but I’m genuinely baffled by it: In the finale, when Onestra tells the Jedi to “form a 5-click perimeter,” why do they all immediately run off in the same direction? (Is it because she says “use the Tracker”? If so, Onestra is completely contradicting herself.)
Ah I could not agree more. I watch " with" my cousin in South Africa and I am in france so it's torture to coordinate. I am so anal about seeing SW first that I took a days leave and drove down from the mountains to Nice to find a Cinema where I could see Rogue 1 in English. I managed to find th 10 am show. I was not alone. Parents brought their kids ( doctors appointments), a business,an brough a client and all sorts of excuses for a bunch of maniacs to be there to see the movie before any one lose. So having to watch and wait was tough.
However you wrote a super review and I could not agree more. Pls let us not wait for three years for Episode 2 . It does feel like a trilogy series to me.
You could probably make a good argument that this show was the darkest TV show/movie we've seen. Andor is pretty bleak, but in a different way. Andor is more of a "this show looks like what's happening on the news" type of depressing.
Also, I wonder what the venn diagram of dudes who hate the acolyte but claim Empire is their favorite because it's the darkest and they're so tortured looks like. I bet it's close to a circle.

I imagine: 1) because the show would have been too short and 2) because there’s only one door outside!
(I’m not a hater! And neither of these things undermined my enjoyment of the show!)

Matt this is brilliant. Every paragraph a banger. Thank you for this, so satisfying to read after the finale!
Thank you! We should get coffee!

If one of these guys finally just shouted “women upset me!” Into a microphone? It would save everyone some time.
A triumphant piece and a perfect way to wrap up a transcendent season.
Thanks so much for this!
