Tales of the Jedi, a six-part animated offering just released on Disney Plus, takes full advantage of the streaming medium to try a new approach to Star Wars storytelling. The series is neither bound by the strict, 22 minute format of The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels, nor constricted to the length of the micro-series like Genndy Tartakovsky’s 2003 Star Wars: Clone Wars or Forces of Destiny.

This feels more like Filoni: Visions. It’s a sampler, it’s tapas, it’s small plates. It’s odds and ends and curiosities that indulge in the extra leg room that comes with Disney Comfort Plus. (Yes, I’m aware that I just mixed my metaphors, and yes, I know that I’m saying this series is tapas that enjoys extra airplane seating, but it’s my newsletter and I think mixing metaphors is the Next Big Thing.)
