SPOILERS REVEAL WHO MARROK IS BELOW
Part 4 of Ahsoka was all that and a bag of chips.
It was made of hot glue and glitter but it was a winner on the runway, because even though it showed up to Drag Race not knowing how to sew, it’s going to make it work.
It was flashy, folks.
It was like, wow guys!
Look out, everyone, here comes Part 4. Move aside and let this episode go through, it’s got swagger.
Ahsoka Part 4 was like if someone said “Hey, do you want to watch some good shit?” and you were like “Yeah I Do” and they were like “Check This Out!”
(Clears throat speaks into the microphone) I enjoyed it.
Oh damn, did Ahsoka just try to pick up the headpiece to the Staff of Ra like…
…and then get knocked into the ocean until she wound up in the space between spaces. Holy Moses it’s Hayden Christensen in his Revenge of the Sith getup! Did he just call her Snips?
Front row seats were great for Mandalorian Apprentice versus Dark Danger Bangs Round Two!
Finally, after maybe a week or two of online debate, we find out the deep secret that Marrok was… a very talented stuntman or stuntwoman/the Smoke Monster from Lost. I hope Reddit, or whatever, can finally rest.
And wait wait wait did Huyang just engage in fisticuffs?
Is that Carson Teva flying besides Hera? Is Carson Teva the Agent Phil Colson of the Dave Filoni New Republic Universe? (Is Thrawn going to kill Carson Teva just to make us all cheer for his downfall?) Did Hera’s X-Wing escort just get semi-Holdo Maneuvered?
Did Ray Stevenson just say ‘witchcraft’ while looking into space in order to flirt with my wife? Also could Baylen be more obfuscating and evasive and, frankly, tall?
Was “Fallen Jedi” both literal and figurative?
Were we supposed to see a weird mix of Kylo vs Rey and Finn in the Dark Forest and the opening Star Trek Into Darkness and also, I don’t know, House of Flying Daggers in that red forest?
Check out the shot of Ahsoka and Baylen changing stances like they’re characters in Soulcalibur!
Speaking of stances, gotta love Ahoska showing off her lineage by taking Anakin’s overhead stance…
and then one-hit-one-killing Marrok in a(nother) callback to Obi-Wan versus Maul on Tatooine in Rebels?
Jacen Syndulla has a bad feeling. When he gets a little older, I imagine he will have a bad feelig about this. Those are two words you add after you hit puberty, in the Star Wars Galaxy.
Look, usually I’ll tease out a theme or muse on a particular piece of the puzzle, but this week’s Ahsoka was made of action, callbacks, fan service and delight. It put our heroines in real danger at the halfway point, setting us up for a sprint in the second half of the series. It gave Ahsoka and Sabine clear, stated, opposing viewpoints and that paid off big time. This wasn’t the deepest Star Wars, but it was designed to make me go Heck Yeah and I did, quite a lot, it was a blast, and ended with a cliffhanger that made me legitimately want to see what happens next.
Ahsoka Part 4, I think the technical term is, ruled.
All the people complaining about the show for 2 weeks got pretty quiet when this ep dropped.
i loved the Ahsoka vs. Baylan fight! him wielding his lightsaber as if it were a hefty greatsword (i got Ned Stark vibes), the multiple stance changes, the clever footwork, etc. -- so, so good.
i'm also wondering what show the IGN reviewer watched that made them give this episode a 6/10. they must hate fun or something.
