New mug. Is cute. Might delete later.
Is this the part of The Mandalorian Season 3 Trailer that most delighted me? Yes. Yes it was. Sure, I like bad-ass Mandalorians dropping from the sky and adorable Grogu. But Salacious Crumb is one of the all-time great Star Wars characters, forever and ever amen.
Star Wars: Resistance is such an interesting artifact of the sequel era. It’s got a lot groovy anime-inflected ships, a distinctive and bright animation style, it’s fun. But it always felt a little hamstrung by its weird placement in the timeline and how peripheral it was to the main action.
It also launched before the Disney+ era and finished up its entire run just as Disney+ was launching. It largely played on the Disney Channel and Disney XD, which, in the streaming era, seems like it was shown on stone tablets or something. If it had launched on Disney+ would it have been given more time to find an audience and get its (pun intended) sea legs?
I was never super-engaged by Kaz, the unsteady protagonist. Ahsoka Tano, though, was a pretty hard-to-enjoy character at first blush and she evolved to become an essential part of the Star Wars mythos. One has to wonder what Kaz would have become if he’d been given five seasons to grow. It makes me curious if in the Mandalorian era of storytelling we’ll ever hear references to Jarek Yager or the Colossus.
