The trailer for the final season of The Bad Batch has arrived! We’ll discover the fates of Omega and her Dads in one month’s time. Plus, it looks like we’re going to get Asajj Ventress going Full Rey with swooping hair and a yellow lightsaber. That is dope.
I wrote responses to each of the second season’s episodes for paid subscribers (all easy to find in the archive), but in summary, I thought it was an excellent Empire Strikes Back of a season.
The long-awaited, unexpected, true finale of The Clone Wars was stirring and perfect. Maybe that’s why The Bad Batch has largely fallen under the category of ‘Moar Star Wars’ for me. It feels like bonus episodes of a concluded series, a gift for the hardcores. Even when it shines, which it often does, it feels a little tacked on.
But, the finale of season two surprised me. It took the entire emotional journey of the season and broke our hearts with it. I’m ready for them to stick the landing and finally say a restless farewell to this series.
And really, this era of Star Wars storytelling.
It’s earned a rest.
Lucasfilm also published The Bad Batch’s season three release schedule.
Let’s see. Three episodes on the February 21st, one episode a week for two weeks, two episodes on March 13th, then one, then another one, then two on April 3rd, etc. Either they’re releasing the two-parters together, or they just worked backwards from a series finale of May 1st. Perhaps there are tea leaves to read here. Perhaps there is no rhyme or reason. It was my understanding that there would be no math.
