Ancient Computers and Ancient Greeks are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid!
I stumbled across this brief BBC Reel about the real-life Antikythera, which many of you will know as the titular Dial of Destiny in the now-in-theaters Indiana Jones 5. Get the skinny on this MacGuffin!
Speaking of parallels between Han Solo and Indiana Jones, anyone else notice that Indiana Jones gives a statement on belief (“It’s not what you believe…it’s how hard you believe it…”) that, while different in meaning, has strong echoes of the “It’s true, all of it,” moment from The Force Awakens?
If you hadn’t heard, Indiana Jones co-writer Jez Butterworth is also one of the best playwrights alive. His play, Jerusalem, was one of my favorite ever Broadway experiences, carried to greatness by the text, Mark Rylance’s monumental performance, and an ending you kind of had to see in order to truly feel. (Just a plug here for seeing theater live. The memory of that play’s ending has stayed with me because I experienced it exactly one time. That’s what made it special.)
What are the current betting odds that Captain Rex appears in Ahsoka? Seems, you know, pretty damn likely. In fact, shouldn’t Boba Fett meet Rex? Doesn’t that kind of have to happen?
Beyond the Ahsoka series, I feel like the announcement that Dave Filoni will direct a film that brings all the Disney+ shows together makes Ahsoka feel like prologue to that experiment. If we are getting Star Wars: Heir To The Empire as a movie, who else will be in it? All the original characters from the OT are still alive, no one seems shy about de-aging or digitally recreating people, and it’s now clear that they’ll be mixing in Rebels characters, along with The Mandalorian crew too.
Is this going to be Star Wars: Endgame?
Will Grogu’s first words be “On your left?”
