Farewell to Ray Stevenson, who was set to appear as Baylon Skoll, a mysteriously imposing dark knight, in Ahsoka. He had been That Actor From Everything for many years and was clearly a beloved human being. 58 is way too young to leave us. I hope he’s one with the Force.
One of my favorite feelings is anticipating a major release. The not-knowing, the wondering, the imagining, the trailers, makes the eventual enjoyment of the movie so much sweeter.
With the glut of movies and shows coming out, it’s rarer to feel that level of excitement. It used to take years between releases. It’s been 15 years since we’ve seen Indy, and it was 19 years between Last Crusade and Crystal Skull. These movies are rare and rarity makes things special.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny might have gotten a chilly reception at Cannes (clearly, it’s ideal audience!), but I’m incredibly excited to see it. I have, perhaps, already purchased quite a few tickets to opening weekend showings, and ordered my commemorative glass from the Alamo Drafthouse.
The trailers look great, the MacGuffin super MacGuffin-y, and it’s clearly been made with love.
