Might I recommend Return of the Pod?
My friend Brian Silliman (from the NY theater world) and crew put out a weekly Star Wars podcast that’s full of the positive energy I love to bring here on Ahch-To Baby. Highly recommended. Check them out wherever podcasts are sold and give them shiny stars on Apple Podcasts.
I say Amen to Brian’s love of physical media. My friends, when the wi-fi goes down, you’re going to be happy you had your Blu-Rays. Also, I would really love a Blu-Ray box set of The Mandalorian that includes The Book of Boba Fett between Seasons 2 and 3, so it’s clear how to watch the story in order.
One thing I’m loving from this season of The Mandalorian is how the March of the Resistance theme is woven into the New Republic sotry. It plays when Pershing and Kane takeva stroll through Coruscant - in exactly the same way the Imperial March plays as a part of the Empire’s recruitment advertisements in Solo.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi panel on Day 3 of Celebration really gave me life. (It starts at around the 3:00:00 mark.) The warmth of the stars and love of the series was a real joy. Vivien Lyra Blair is just a total treat.
Beyond that, though, the panel showed how quickly Star Wars fandom now metabolizes new material. Last year’s Celebration featured the first episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi as a big reveal and special treat for the audience. It was a long-awaited return, the first appearance of these actors in these roles since 2005. Here, though, it was already one of many panels, nearly lost in the shuffle in the shiny bright future of new movies and Ahsoka. If this same show had been released all on its own a few years ago it would have still been a buzzed about and debated event. But we’ve moved on to new debates and announcements so quickly, it’s astonishing.
Remembering to appreciate having seen the very show or movie you were eagerly anticipating is almost like practicing mindfulness: take a breath, remember what you screamed for last year, appreciate that you did receive it, celebrate the work.
i love watching Star Wars Celebration panels. the love and enthusiasm generated by the crowd is unreal. seriously considering Celebration Japan :)
I also noticed that "March of the Resistance" has been included in this season! I love it!
