This past week, the team that made Andor won five Emmy Awards including an award for Outstanding Writing, Drama Series.

The fifth Emmy, accepted by writer Dan Gilroy, felt like the industry’s acknowledgment of Andor’s quality, even though it kind of lives outside the traditionally awarded categories in Hollywood. The Studio was about the people in the room, the industry itself. While it was an excellent (excellent!) series, it’s also easy to imagine a voter at the Academy relating to it. Andor is a more intimidating world to understand, and to really get why it’s great, you need patience and context.
